I've talked about Sketchup before - it's a great 3D design tool from Google. Sketchup has attracted a loyal following amongst designers from all industries, and when they hang out, they do it at Sketchucation.
I've recently joined this fantastic community and I have been really impressed by the talent and friendliness of the people over there.
Anyway, every few weeks they run a little competition. Users are encouraged to create a 3D model from scratch in 30 minutes, inspired by a theme picked by the previous winner. Impossible, you say? Well the image at the top of this post was created in less than 30 minutes, and the designer has published a video to show how he did it. It's speeded up so it only takes 10 minutes, and I learnt more in those 10 minutes than hours of trying to create my own models. Thanks to Eric Lay (aka Boofredlay) for a great video
