How to create a Shcemtic and PCB symbol with random pin numbers...??

EX:  Desigd of optocoupler OLQ66 does not have pin no. 3. If design it without pin no. 3 it gives a error message during saving the symbol.....

Please Give me solution for this....

Hi there,

after searching for the datasheet for 10 minutes, I realized you meant the ILQ66..

Anyway, I tried creating the schematic symbol (with 6 pins) and deleted pin 3. When saving, DS gave an error message. So far, that seeems to be normal :-)

In order to save, I renumbered the pins (the pin number isn't all that relevant, as will become clear). Then I copied the 6DIL-PCB symbol to my TEST-Library.

Now I created the component (just click on "New Item") and selected the appropriate symbols (choosing names, etc.).

Then you get the screen for connecting the symbols. The 2 symbols are at the bottom of the screen. Above you find the table where to input the connections. Now you select a schematic terminal in the table (1 - 5) and the terminal in the schematic symbol will highlight (this works the other way, too; click on the terminal in the symbol and the table row gets highlighted)

Now you just assign the correct pcb symbol pin to the schematic terminal, in this case:

SCH TERM <-> PCB PIN
       1         -        1
       2         -        2
       3         -        4
       4         -        5
       5         -        6

You can also enter other values into the table; just FYI.

Anywho, when you're finished you will see, that all the pins in the PCB symbol are highlighted, except nr. 3 (because it's not connected to anything). And when you look at the schematic symbol, you will see the correct pin numbers at the terminals (supposing you connected them correctly).

As you see the terminal numbering isn't important, because you assign the values later. But it is irritating, if you don't know this ;-)

Hope this helps.
