At the moment I'm just trying to gleen as much knowledge as possible and catch up on elect dev technology. I haven't done any micro stuff in over 10 years so I'm a little behind!

Well hopfully one day we can answer by saying your already here!
I find that it depends on what you want to know and at what level. You will find embedded forums on sites like the IET but these will talk about 32bit micros flying the space shuttle. Or you will find back street random forums that have people asking how to calculate a resistor or a LED.
I use Google at this time to just search the web as I have not found a forum that fits my needs, however as we here are Microchip based then thier forums are good and thay have some very good application notes and PDFs on interfaceing and controls of analouge systems from an embedded micro.
