Ok, ideally any format i can edit the schematic on and put a border template around it, such as dwg autocad file?
I though autocad could open dxf files, hence the request for dxf?

You can't export a Schematic to DXF. Why would you want to? DXF is a mechanical design exchange for exporting and importing board outlines an with an MCAD system like Autodesk.
