I am a 3rd year, Electronics and telecommunication student, in NIT Raipur.

This summer in may-jun (2011), I want to do an Internship or some project work, or any training related to microprocessors, microtrollers, or embedded systems or in Semiconductor materials and devices. Can anyone guide me where can I do that.I had tried at many places, but I am not getting the right place to gain knowledge.

Please help me if aamyone knows.

What the engineers here have advised me is that a few govt engineering poly techniques / ITI's & IETE( Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers ), Delhi used to run short term training programmes on microcontroller & semiconductor applications etc . You can get in touch with these establishment for more details. However if you are looking for training with work experience thrown in then an Internship is perfect. This is likely to be more hands on training though and don't be surprised if you are expected to add value whilst you are there assisting with some lesser tasks in addition to your training. If you are not limited to your immediate location (where you are unlikely to find companies meeting your specific requirements) I would suggest you try companies in Bangalore or South India as that is where the majority of the electronics industry is in India. You could write to a few companies asking about any internship programs that they run. If you want to go further afield there are also international programs, I initiated a program in the UK with RS where we took a Chinese intern on to work in our international department, usually these come with a small salary/expenses to cover living costs. I hope this helps - good luck. Simon

Hi, finding companies is only the first step. We have taken many students for industrial projects as part of their university courses and also work experience placements through various colleges (Australian only). We see that it is a big step change for most students from university to work environment and the students that do it well seem to switch their thinking from "someone should be teaching me" to "how can i use what I know to solve this issue/design/bug etc". Be as proactive as you can to read a lot, try things our at home or at university and in your interviews talk about the things you are doing and how you have solved problems that come up. Also, in Australia at least, there are companies that, for fee, will find work experience placements. Hope that is of some help. Trish
