New version of PCB Converter available

Back in June, we released our PCB Converter for SketchUp.  This wonderfully simple little tool provides a link between the worlds of PCB Design and 3D CAD, and gives engineers an end-to-end design solution.

As with most new software releases, there were a few bugs in the first version.  However, with the help of several Design Spark members, we have now released a new version of the PCB Converter for SketchUp.

Version 1.1 addresses the following issues:

1) Fixed a bug involving multiple white spaces between values.

2) Fixed a bug which in some cases prevented the final component in the library file from being imported.

3) Added more detailed error messages for corrupt file handling and un-supported file versions.

4) Fixed a bug in the meshing code which was causing inverted normals on some models.

Please download the latest version here and re-install.  The installation will overwrite the old version (as long as you choose the same file location!).

Once again, thanks go to everyone for their patience and advice.

Best regards

Hello Geek,

Thanks for your information. It's great that PCB converter provide IDF-to-Collada conversion. By the way, I'm looking for a way to easily mesh the RS catalogue with the designspark PCB. For instance, I entering a RS stock number (#450613) to get the correct PCB footprint or some sort of lookup table for a stock number vs library file. Any suggested libraies that can be achieve this goal?

Thanks, Stephen LAM

Dear Stephen,

I know my colleagues are working on more libraries for DesignSpark.  I'll ask them to send you more information.
