Progress on the RS robot 3

The picture above shows the sister robot to our RS version awaiting delivery to a customer. I think the cover plates are rather stylish, looking like the armour plate on a Hollywood sci-fi battle 'droid. The RS version will of course have wheels on the base unit and be driven by EDP electronics, consisting of two populated baseboards visible in the base unit through a perspex 'window'.

To address the safety problem when working around humans, the waist swivel force is reduced when an obstruction is encountered. This uses a novel mechanical system independent of the motor drive control. Mind you, the RS version will still be able to run over people. Hmm, more innovation needed.

This robot has now been delivered to a customer, so now work begins in earnest to complete the EDP version. Keep watching this space.
