V3 PCB Track highlighting

northeastman

United Kingdom

Hi,

We have are running DS V3 on a 64 bit Windows machine.

We have a finished PCB double sided with two tracks with a permanent highlight through them.

When the board is printed in colour for checking the tracks print out dark blue for both sides.

These tracks are not selected for highlighting and if they are selected there is no change to the track displays.

How can we get rid of this highlighting or does it indicate some form of design rule violation that the design rule check report does not show?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks to all for your suggestions but we have still not got to the bottom of this issue.

Having done a second schematic and PCB layout this issue has raised its head again but this time the highlighting appears in Red instead of Blue?

We suspect that this is linked to the change of net colours in the schematic and that only some of these colours are appearing as coloured lines on the PCB traces.

In our new schematic we have changed the net colour for +12V to Red and 0V to Dark Green.  The Red shows up as highlighting in the 12V tracking in the PCB but the Dark Green doesn't?

If we change the track colour for the top side of the board from the default Red to say Cyan then the traces have a Red line through them, guess Red on Red is just not visible.  If we change the colour of the 12V net in the schematic and then forward the design changes, this has no effect on the Red traces in the 12V PCB track.  We just cannot shift them.

It looks as if DS is trying to highlight the tracks in the PCB layout to those in the schematic but not being able to complete correctly.

We have logged a support call but have had no response?

If anyone else has come across this can you also log a help call please?

Maybe Dangling Tracks?!

Check the color of the dangling tracks, it is right below Net Highlights.

Have you ran the Design Rule Check?

David,

Thanks for the suggestion.

The PCB only has two layers top and bottom and the tracks in question use both layers. Both layers have the Blue highlighting and we are sure they are not on another layer.

We have raised a support ticket for this and will wait to see what support have to say about it.

Thanks for your help.

If you hover the mouse over the track until the status box appears ensure that this net is either on the top or the bottom and has not some got placed an inner layer, which could be another colour.

Dave,

Great suggestion.  We tried changing the net highlight colour from Blue to Yellow but these two nets did not change so it's not highlighting but something else that's doing it.

We tried changing every colour set so there was no blue at all but these two nets are still in blue.

these two nets were renamed "Motor out" and "Motor In" in the schematic.  Changing the net names and colours in the schematic also has no effect.

Maybe we will raise a support call for this?

Regards

Go keyboard shortcut C to bring-up the Colours menu, click the Settings and Highlights tab and take a look at what's checked.  Try changing the Net Highlight colour to see if your highlighted track is actually a highlight or if it's something else.

Dave,

thanks for your suggestion tried that but it still high lights two separate nets?

On V2 you could only have one net at a time highlighted and for the rest of the nets in this design this appears to happen but two of the nets are permanently high lighted?

Any other ideas?

Maybe this is a fault in our design or a maybe a V3 bug?

Thanks again

Try, Main Menu: View / Highlight Net / Remove Net Highlight
