Well, I say "best". Maybe I mean "most memorable". I'm not sure that Battlestar Galactica counts as classic SF. And don't get me started on Buck Rogers...
A note to everyone except Pete and me: we've known each other for a few years now, and we are often talking about Science Fiction. Sorry for making our geek-dom public.
What about Galatea from "Bicentennial Man"? Or even Andrew from the same film - constraining him in a full body robot casing made this Robin Williams' only performance I can watch without keeping a sick-bag handy. And the film is so damn long and slow that you will probably fall asleap before the vomit-inducingly sentimental ham actor finally escapes from the suit!
I have been watching most number of robots in many science fiction movies but from the these collection I cast my vote to the robots from Terminator Series which entertain us in many formats.
There are various choices of science fiction movies in which we got a maximum number of robots and among from them I used to choose the Terminator movie series robot, which reminds me the old action movies with lots of fun making scenes.

Oh, and I only chose Marvin as I grew up with Hitchhikers and have a huge amount of affection for all 5 books. And the movie. And the radio series.
And even the TV series, despite how dreadfully dated it is.
