Most geeks have a morning routine. While drinking their coffee, they will visit their favourite websites to catch up with the latest news, the juiciest industry gossip or the coolest gadget. I am one of those geeks, and high on my list of "must-visits" is SketchUcation, the online community for users of Google SketchUp.
SketchUcation is required reading for anyone who wants to get to grips with SketchUp. It helps to user navigate through the huge profusion of add-ons and plug-ins that turn SketchUp into a professional tool capable of creating stuff like this (Victorian-era USB stick, anyone...?)

Every now and then, the team behind the website publish a newsletter called CatchUp. Now on its fifth edition, CatchUp is a magazine that provides a balanced selection of reviews, showcases, tutorials, tips and hints that are suitable for a wide range of users. Even if you are not a 3D expert, it's a fantastic read that might inspire you to get more involved. The fifth edition even includes a tutorial that teaches the user to make something like this...

SketchUcation is populated by some of the nicest and most helpful geeks I've ever encountered. Leading active members of the forum are called "Top SketchUcators", all of whom are very approachable and willing to help.
Visit the forum, get involved and get modelling. How cool would it be if the next Top SketchUcator was a DesignSpark member?
