hi!!!
I have a problem in creating component. After I've cretated the new library where I want to put my new component, the button "new item" doesn't work and makes my computer bugging.
I tried to reinstall the software but it is the same.
please help me because I can do anything without creating component!!
Thanks !!!!
julia :)

We are getting there! I can now select pin numbers and pin names, edit them and move them - great stuff.
But, I still can't re-size them. After selecting the relevant text pressing "S" has no effect whatsoever and right clicking brings up the context menu OK but there is no "Change Styles" item on the menu or sub menus.
It seems that just about every other bit of text on the drawing does have a "Change Styles" item in its context menu.

Eventually gave up on example schematics and thought that it was time to do some drawing myself.
Well, would you believe it, the components on my drawing behaved exactly like you said they should! I can select and re-size pin text no trouble at all - most odd.
Thanks again for your help

Thanks Dave,
I've seen the issue now on the example file - it is because of the way it was setup. I've posted a more useful (but not verified!) example on this page that has been setup with a default design tech file and you will hopefully find this a better one to experiment with. I'll update this tutorial design but it is adequate for demonstration purposes "as-is".
Cheers,
Martin

I am having the same issue with a design I have started with from scratch using mostly my own symbols. How do I change the setup to be able to change pin name text styles?

There is always more....!
You can do the above as many times as you like, so can do it for multilpe values if you need to - all can be moved about independently, text can be changed, mirrored and put on the bottom layer for example...
To swap between what is displayed on a reference origin - select the text for the reference origin you've just created, right click and on the text tab select only values, then go to values tab and select the ones you wish to add for that displayed reference origin you have just created.

Thanks for help with splitting the value and reference. I assume this can be done when creating library parts so they are "oven ready" so to speak!
I'm afraid I still can't alter the size of pin related text on the schematic (as per your previous answer). I'm using the "Analogue Circuit.sch" example that loads with the program download to try things out on. As big as I make, say, U1a, as soon as I click on a pin number or pin name the whole of U1a is selected and I can't then see a menu item that allows the text to be resized.
I appreciate your rapid and helpful responses to queries and I'm sure this sort of support will go a long way to ensuring the success of this product.

Hi Dave,
I can only think you are not selecting exactly the pin name, as I have no problem like you describe? try zooming in and making sure you just click on the pin number?
There is a way around this other issue you have raised too that is quite easy to use - select the component you want to do this with (split values and references). Then click Add from the top menu bar, add reference origin. You get another origin now - you can then choose to have the component reference as one of the displayed items, and use the other one for the value for example. These can be rotated and moved independently.
Hope you find this useful :)
Martin.

Thanks for that Martin - the second method seems particularly powerful.
At the schematic level I could only get the first method to work on component references and values. I couldn't seem to just be able to select pin number or pin name text without selecting the whole device. Probably I'm doing something wrong?
The "joined at the hip" feature of component references and values still needs to be adressed though.

Also, you can edit the text styles used on the design from the design technology file. Just go to settings, design technology, text styles and you can change the style for the whole design, add new styles etc etc.
Hope you find all you need from these two replies,
Thanks

Hi Dave,
Sorry, did see your question but forgot to reply! OK, this is something we can address easily I think - if you select the text you want to resize, only the text (not the whole component) and then press s (or right click, styles) you can make the required edits.
That ok?
Thanks,
Martin
