Install on Windows 2000

    Is there a known problem installing version 4 on a Windows 2000 system? No problem with Windows 7, but on a computer running Windows 2000 and Designspark 3, I get an IDS_ERR_QUIT_MSG while running the version 4 install program and the installation fails.

    I seem to recall a similar problem when version 3 was first released.

      Hi, thank you for your feedback. Win2k is actually not a plaftorm that is supported by DesignSpark PCB so you are safer using XP or W7.

      Here is the message from the developers:

      V4 is built with a new version of MS Visual Studio and uses much more recent runtime libraries, so it is quite possible that some change in that area is what is causing it to fail.

      The message you are getting is an error in the installer, it should be displaying something like “error during install, error code xxx” but it looks like there is a text resource missing from the installer. It is trying to tell us about something that has gone wrong during installation, but without the error code it is going to be hard to say exactly what that might be.


      Please provide the exact error message, best is to send us a screenshot via Help>Support>email support
