Create new component

I am trying to create a new component with only PCB symbol. I start with File/Libraries/NewItem. After having droped a pad, it is selected and I can move it. If I click somewhere else and then again the inserted pad, I cannot select it any more. To get the pad selected I have to click select all.
If I add several pads the same problem appears. Again I can select one pad by selecting all and then by keeping shift down I click the one, I want to select. Although this works, it is not very handy.
How to select a pad for editing?
I cannot use wizard, because I need a PCB symbel with pads only on 3 edges.

I have no experinced such problem. May be a SW installation problem or you are doing something wrong. I selecte the pad I want modify by mouse pointing and left button click twice fast, or right mouse click shows a lot of options of highlighted pad. To highlight a pad one mouse left button click.

Sorry, I did not remember to mention, that that happened in v 4, in v 3 it works fine.
