Raspberry Pi, What OS are RS shipping with it?
Posted by Boss at
Nothing came with mine, just blank for the user to select the operating system they want.
There was a pre-programmed part listed, but this was not available when I placed my order.

Hi
Consider the following.
The Texas Instruments ." LaunchPad" ( cost about $5.00 ) when populated with the MSP430G2553 is a low cost micro-controller. When Flashed with the Forth computer language it can be programmed with Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems when using a suitable Terminal Emulator.
The Forth computer language called , 4E4th is free and downloadable at this site.

=============== What I Can Do to Help ================
Well I am writing an eBook to help launchPad users make measurements similar to those you have in mind. I do not teach Forth in the eBook -------- we use it ------ it's Action Driven-- the first item of interest is to measure the internal temperature of the chip.
The Book is not finished yet ----------- so I can send you a few chapters to see if you have a sustained interest =========== in supporting you the book will be improved.
In any case i like the sound of your project.

I just placed an order for a Raspberry Pi which I should receive in about 10 weeks. I also ordered some "extras" including - amongst other items - a 4GB smartcard with an operating system installed.
Can someone please tell me exactly what software will be bundled with this smartcard?
Thanks,
Joe
