Searched a few questions already about importing or adding a 3D drawing which most replies came to 'press F1 and search 3D'.
Done that and there is nothing that says you can create a new 3D library then import or attach a 3D drawing.
I have downloaded a 3D drawing of a BNC connector from the RS 3D traceparts. But I can not find anything that explains how I would add this into designsparks. Many posts say you can, but none say how.
Yes, I having been asking the same question a couple of days ago. There is meant to be a help file which describes .idf export of the 3D model of the PCB and I would hope component import. However I cannot even find the location of the 3D shape library (if there is one?). Can the moderator point us all in the right direction with a link to the appropriate help file?
Thanks for your nice comments about DesignSpark. Regarding 3D models, DesignSpark is a 2-dimensional design tool. It does allow 2D DXF files to be imported, but not 3D models.
There is a 3D viewer available within DesignSpark, but this is not the same as a true 3D modelling tool. As far as I am aware, we have no plans to change this.
I just started evaluating DS and I am confused about this as well.
If you go to http://www.designspark.com/3d, it says:
This is the official 3D CAD library for DesignSpark! Whether you use the most sophisticated 3D modelling suites, or you dabble with Google Sketchup, you can download the 3D model you want in the native file format you need. No converting, no verifying, no payment required! Just download, import into your design, and go!
Clicking on the link for 3D libraries gives many options for 3D model formats, but none labeled "DesignSpark" and Connector Geek seems to be saying that the 3D import mentioned in the above quote is not possible.
Can someone clearly state if this is possible? If it is, how?. If not, please explain the text in italics.
