How can I import the extracted .dsl-File into a DesignSpark schematic/pcb, so I can use the symbol and the footprint?

That's right! DesignSpark PCB Version 4 has a built-in interface which makes downloading and using the components very simple

Please see the Library interface video on the DesignSpark PCB home page http://designspark.com/page/DesignSpark-PCB-Home-Page

I have watched the video and the first day I used DS I did notice it downloading and using items in the model source bar at the bottom. However, now that I have time and have came back to actually design a real circuit none of the items I find will work. I have tried many many different parts. some were greyed out and some were black in the list and it always says the same thing. It simply says "Unable to download SN74HC174N" and the part remains gray/black in the list.

I went to the ModelSource tab on this website and searched and loaded the above part number just fine. I added it to my collection (whatever that is) with the little green plus sign and have no idea how to get it back into the program. I was really impressed the first day, but now I just don't know what is wrong.

I have added DS to my firewall's safe program list. and tried everything else I can think of. It says logged in as SouthernGenius inside the model-source bar.

EDIT: Funny enough, I just went back to make sure I was telling you the right part number and NOW it downloaded fine!!! I've tried that same number on at least 3 different occasions over the past week and only now did it work???!!?! I wonder if it's because I had to actually log into the site to type this and NOW i am finally logged in? I dunno but will keep you updated if it stops again.

      Any ideas?

      Hi SouthernGenius,

Thank you for your feedback, this is worrying and we must take a closer look at what you have experienced. We are currently building in some more diagnostics into ModelSource database for this exact rerason - to be able to track unsuccessful downbloads and so on. Please keep in mind that ModelSource is in Early Life Support stage and we rely on your feedback and comments to track down any bugs and make things working well for you. If you or anyone else happen to observer any repating problems please take screenshots and make notes and email to us via Help>Support>email support in DSPCB application. We are keen to investigate each case, reproduce and understand the issues, this is the only way we can address them. Thank you for your understanding and support

      Mike
