DesignSpark PCB - Which Operating Systems are supported?

DesignSpark PCB was created for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 in both 32 and 64 bit variants. It does not support native MAC, Unix or Linux operating systems. 

Users can choose to run the software on an unsupported, but the software has been designed and tested for Windows only.

Haven't done anything complicated with it yet, but it has installed and runs okay on Linux (Ubuntu 64-bit 9.10) under WINE.

I can switch my Mac to PC-mode.

I´ll try out DesignSpark or stay with Eagle and OS X.

Got it running on Win98SE OK. After installtion one has to go to the settings and inform the program of the location of the libraries, technology files etc. in the options settings.

Runs OK but quite slow. Think it may be the machine rather than the OS. Have not complted all aspects of design on it. So far connecting schematic components does not cause the X crosses to disapear indicating a successful connection to the component. But if one moves the part then the wire link remains attached.

Will inform of any other anomolies as I progress.

Hi just a tip for others using Windows 7 64-bit.

 

I downloaded DesignSpark and installed it, noticed its a x86 application (so its not native x64), anyway it worked but always crashed in the activation process. If i choosed not to activate the program ran fine, but the activation process itself caused some kind of stack error and got Windows 7 to close DesignSpark.

 

Managed to fix the problem by having Windows 7 running DesignSpark in compability mode (Properties of the .exe file itself). Activation prosess ran fine with compability mode set to Windows XP Service Pack 3.

 

So I'm just posting this as a head-up for others who might have the same problem.
