The Arduino Uno is an open source electronics prototyping platform, based on the ATmega328 microcontroller.

It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.

  • ATmega328 16MHz, 32KB Flash memory, 2KB RAM, 1KB EEPROM

  • 14 x GPIO (6 x PWM)

  • 6 x Analogue inputs

  • SPI and I²C bus support

  • USB connector

  • ICSP header

  • Reset button

In the last couple of months I have done several projects with the Arduino Uno.

I attached the USB to my laptop and found it very easy to program and develop.

The first thing I did is locate projects on the Internet and try a couple of them myself. A couple of sensor projects (temperature, light and nearing sensors attached) and some of the PWM stuff with various LEDs.

I must say it is very easy to work with the module, easy to attach devices and electronics components. Easy to program and also effortlessly putting it aside and continuing the next day.

At the moment I am testing with a 4-way steppermotor, using the library for it, also very easy to start right away with this. I bought this controller plus motor on ebay and the pins from the controller module fit right into the Arduino. I'm experimenting with various settings, all works like a train!

For me the Arduino Uno is a fine platform for experimenting and trying different projects and technologies, easy to work with, ready to go.

If you want to start with the Arduino or need advice or help, just let me know.

Hi Sir,

I am very fun of ZILOG XP(Z8F042A) which i develop some sort of projects during my college days or even after. i want to explore something different in this field some choices are Microchips because it is a lot available in the market(Philippines) and the other im interested is the arduino plat form, it because its an open source which i prefer. I want to ask ant to know, what is the different between arduino and zilog xp interems of ease to communicate, programming and and advantage between of them.

thanks

I have the arduino duemolove (atmel328),and have been searching for a way to integrate a cnc controller for cutting my own pcbs and discovered that not only can you make idf or dxf files to import into sketchup, with the proper ruby plugins for su, you can export dxf files into cam programs like mega3 and cambam, both have free versions .  Both have the ability to convert dxf files to gcode that can be converted directly to arduino "code" with reprap conversion sketchs...The arduino uno and duemelove can drive up to 3 steppers (in microstepping mode with either easydriver boards or make your own stepper sheild with spindle speed controls and extra relay controls. I'll let you know how that turns out . I ordered the a3967's to control the motors and plan to use uln3008s and mosfets for the other switching needs. Artinvegas
