DesignSpark PCB – Quick-start Guide
- Download and Save the installation file from the Design Centre
- Double-click to install and follow the on-screen directions to complete installation
- Once installation is completed, run the software from the start menu or from the desktop shortcut icon
- The first time you run the software you will get the option to set up automatic updates
- When you first install the application it is un-activated. Each time you open an un-activated copy of DesignSpark PCB you will get the option to activate
- To activate, make sure you have a live internet connection and click the Go button to take you to the DesignSpark PCB activation page. You will need to login to DesignSpark.com or register if you are not already a member
- If you need to activate on a machine that does not have a live internet connection you can note the serial ID from the activation dialog box and use this to activate from the below link
Activation Codes
- Activation codes are available to members of DesignSpark
- To receive an activation code you need;
a) to be a member of DesignSpark
b) to have DesignSpark PCB installed on your machine
- DesignSpark PCB generates a Serial ID for your installation. This number is used to retrieve your activation code
- Your activation code will be emailed to you – so please ensure you provide a working email address to avoid problems.
- Simply copy the activation code, paste into the activation dialog box and you have an activated, fully featured installation of DesignSpark PCB
- Activation codes are currently restricted to two per DesignSpark member – if you need another code (for example if you have other machines you need to work on) then please email your request to DesignSparkPCB@rs-components.com
- If you do have a problem activating please email your details to DesignSpark PCB Please include your username for DesignSpark, your Serial ID from DesignSpark PCB and an explanation of the problem you are encountering – provide as much information as possible

This seems to be more of an installation guide than a getting started guide - is there a tutorial of creating a simple board from scratch, creating some component footprints along the way?
MikePro
Ignore the last post - I've just found the tutorial in Designspark itself under (obviously) Help -> Tutorials.

You're not the first and you won't be the last. I've been guilty of that one myself on more than one occasion!

Downloaded v2, installed. Restarted PC/W7. Double clicked on icon. Nothing happened. Can see DesignSpark process running in Task MAnager. Application not running. That's all. unistalled and reinstalled. No go.
????
Any ideas?

Hi, same problem as last post - downloaded designspark, installed application, rebooted computer, tried to open application and nothing seemed to happen. Reinstalled, app asked me if I wanted to repair - I clicked 'ok', rebooted, and still - nothing. Task manager shows design spark running in 'processes' but not open in 'applications'. Must be running in the background somewhere, but I can't find it? Any fix for this? (please, of course).

I am having the same problem and the "just wait for it" fix doesn't work; besides the fact that I'm currently connected to the internet. If anyone has a real solution please let me know.
Thanks,
Daniel

Thanks for the guidelines but I am stuck in the installation phase, I can't seem to find any exe file extension in the installation pack and I can go any further. It's really frustrating. What other file extension should I look for? I'd appreciate any info, thanks!
