When developing a new product from scratch, the design process can be long and drawn out.  Between brainstorming, sketches, studies and surveys, considerable time and effort can be expended before a design concept is finalised.  And as we all know, time costs money.

Then comes the time to hand your design concept to your CAD draughtsman to turn it into a reality.  He creates your design in magnificent 3D, and submits it to you for your approval.  But if it's not right, you have to send it back for further work.  This too costs money.

In fact, you could say that by the time your CAD department becomes involved, you are already in production.  Why?  Because, just like when the production line has actually started, every change that needs to be made is painful and costly.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a tool that you could use during the design process?  A tool that would allow you (without 3D CAD skills) to create a concept model of your product.  A tool that would allow you to make quick changes without waiting.  A tool that lets everyone include their ideas easily.  A tool that could then export your concept straight to the 3D CAD department for them to work on.

Welcome to the world of Direct Modelling.  This is what SpaceClaim does, and this webinar shows you how this can help your design process.
