When I tried to open either the schematic or PCB layout generated using Protel I get the same message, "Failed to import from file .....". Is there a special import process?
Thanks,
Robert
Martin Keenan
Hi Robert, there is currently no facility in DesignSpark PCB for importing files of this format - that is why you are getting the error.
Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin,
Is there ever likely to be an import tool from Protel file format?
Is there a list of standard software packages from which schematics and/or layout files can be imported?
Wouldn't it be cool to simply scan a schematic into DesignSpark (like OCR for circuit diagrams :D )? (I'm sure I'm dreaming now... hey what would the customer know about what he/she wants anyway :-) ? )
Cheers,
Robert

Since there are a lot of people who would like to run this on Mac, i can confirm, that I have installed this on Mac OSX 10.6, with "PlayOnMac" Wine windows emulator (its free), and it works prefectly!
Acts just as a native OSX app..
If there is interest i can put together a small tutorial on how to do it.

That would be fantastic!

Nice program and alot visualy better then EAGLE from Cadsoft, only the library's are little bit small:
* no print headers [PTR AK350(h), AK500(h), AK550(h)]
* no trafo's
* no (high power) coils w/wo core
* no (high power) fets
*...
But I think that's because the program is new and the library's must be filled in.
Part finder not able to select SMD yes or no
Thanks for the nice work, hope to work with it in the near future (y)

Generally- just a great program, libraries don't include some parts, I hope it will be fixed. The easiest way is to convert EAGLE libraries I think...
But... I have problem that although I have activated my program, I cannot neighter save project nor add net class, pad style in "Design technology". Do you have any ideas?

Hi Bartek,
Thanks for the feedback. You'll notice we've just started releasing some new libraries, starting with ST and Microchip
The issue you report is a new one - we'll check it out and come back with a recommendation
Cheers

If it might help- I use Windows Vista, after installation DesignSpark (but before activation) my system was broken, and I had to use Samsung recovery solution. Mayby there's the problem?

Hi,
this program is awesome. I miss only one think - possibility of naming pins of my symbol in the Schematic Symbol Library.
Is it somehow possible to name pins now or are you going to implement it?
Thanks, Martin
