Solar Power Charger Board

Application: Green/Environmental
Information type: Screenshot
Keywords: pcb, power, solar, wireless
Manufacturer: Microchip Technology
Technology: PIC32
Theme: chipKIT Challenge

Overview

Starting to get the hang of the PCB design tool.  I designed an add on board for the ChipKit MAX32.  It will eventually charge AA batteries via a solar cell.  A PC will be able to wirelessly monitor the solar panel status, charger efficiency, and battery status.

I got the hardware assembly done this evening.  I can now measure input voltage and current, output voltage and current, adjust my charger output voltage level, and wirelessly monitor everything via wireless protocol (zigbee).  The MPIDE Wire and SPI drivers sure came in handy.  I have had no problems with them yet.  It did help to have a Saleae USB logic analyzer to help trouble shoot my firmware drivers.  :)

Best,
