The uniquely designed reflow Controller can be used in conjunction with a basic toaster oven to create the temperature profile needed to reflow components and create professional assembled boards. The Controller learns the profile of the oven and records it. With just a press of a button it can be repeated time and time again for the prototype builds.
The Reflow-Kit Controller regulates the oven in such a way that the times and temperatures are adhered to and an optimal soldering result can be achieved. The boards and components are slowly heated in a preheating phase avoiding mechanical stresses in the board and the components.
After the preliminary heating the temperature is increased to just under the soldering temperature. This allows the volatile components of the flux to escape, eliminating blistering.
As the heat increases the flux melts forming a connection between the components and the board. The soldering temperature is accurately adhered to during the soldering phase, so that the board is not damaged due to overheating.
Universities, labs and home hackers are availing of free laser SMD stencils which Beta LAYOUT offer in their PCB-POOL® service to complete the kit. Using the PCB Pool magnetic workbench the stencil is secured. This allows for a highly precise application of solder paste. Components are easily assembled to the paste and reflowed in the oven.
